Neuromuscular therapy provides a clinical medical minded approach to soft tissue function & healing. Its holistic approach emphasizes & stimulates the body's natural ability to heal itself. Trigger point therapy, chronic pain & medical conditions are a big part of this work. It's great for addressing issues in the tissues such as headaches, TMJ, sciatica, carpal tunnel, scarring & other traumas. Muscles are 3D, so many different positions, tools & techniques are used with tools, fingers, palms, elbows & forearms. This modality accelerates the overall healing process by facilitating the release of relaxing endorphins while getting the brain to focus on a particular sensation in an area, basically retraining the body to not hyperreact or hold previous muscle state. Think relaxation, telling the tissues to reset, rest & digest. I am willing to collaborate with other medical & alternative care specialists to help bring your body to its full potential. This modality is often done in segments requiring numerous appts to facilitate functionality in a given area. This modality is my heartbeat.
Myofascial involves direct pressure onto specific points of the body called “trigger points”. These spots in the body can cause sensations in another area of the body. For example a trigger point on the hamstring may cause pain in the lower back. These are dissolved by applying intentional pressure to the muscle for several seconds by the use of the hands, fingers, tools or elbows. This is drywork, meaning no lotion or oil is used. Throughout several sessions, trigger points are eliminated, restoring full function & health to the body. The body is filled with fascia, a web like structure that contracts & is meant to provide glide. There are sheets of it throughout the body, for instance, the largest goes from the neck area & continues throughout the whole back to the hips. I describe it like foilwrapped chicken = wax paper, chicken, sauce, foil, it also creates a webbed network throughout the body like the inner parts of an orange. There are 3 types: the outer, muscular & organ layers. If any area is locked up it can cause stiffness, think of bunched saran paper. This modality often includes stretching & postural assessment. May be advised for Fibromyalgia, adhesions, anxiety & other nueromuscular conditions.

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing & therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading & percussion to help improve circulation. There's a myriad of benefits wide-ranging from relief from aches & pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance & greater flexibility. Great for headaches, body tension, cardiac issues & fibromyalgia. It is the token Western type of massage.
Energy work is founded on the belief that everyone has a “life force”, as the Chinese call it "Chi "& that the body needs to sustain its balance for optimum health. I use Traditional Chinese medicine meridian charts, Japanese Shiatsu & Thai Sens lines to assist in returning flow to stagnant areas in the body. These areas may be the result of a physical injury, emotional or mental trauma. Often times you may not know you have a blockage. The body tends to hold these physical & emotional stressors. Stress can be both a good thing & a not so good thing. You may avoid certain environments, withold from necessary action, often times unknowingly, anytime you experience emotional or physical illness, it reflects that your life force has simply become unbalanced. I work directly with your energy field to restore balance & flow to your entire body in its various systems. This taps into the body's flight, flight freeze response & helps to bring relaxation & flow of movement in the body & can leads to intense calmness & or energetic. This modality due to its intimate nature, may induce emotional release. This technique may be done hands free. Great for those with sensatory sensitivities. The beauty of this modality is it often addresses larger areas of the body whilst working in smaller areas, macrosystems within microsystems.
Deep Tissue Massage aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body working slowing layer by layer. An important note is that deep pressure & deep tissue are not the same. It's a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, & past lingering injuries. During this work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable & the muscles allow access. Slow & steady is important vs firm & fast. Be mindful that soreness & or feeling energized is pretty common after the treatment. Increasing water intake is important afterwards to aid in flushing of toxins released during the session. Be mindful to rest the remainder of the day as the vulnerable tissue is prone to injury due to regained motion & possible laxity.
Reflexology focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet that correlate to various regions on the body. Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology has a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize the body as a whole. These treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches & depression. It allows work to be addressed in an area of the body that is often too sensitive to touch due to pain & various implants .It's perfect for those bedridden, have limited mobility & those hesitant to be massaged. Reflexology has been a well recorded modality in various parts of the world throughout the centuries.

The Lymphatic system is our bodys natural defense in cleanup of both inside & outside toxins on the cellular level. This is a feather light massage. I describe the lymphnode clusters in the body like boba, the clusters actually come up to the surface & allow for "drainage." It's like they're saying " pop me."I am trained in Lymphatic massage for minor injuries such as sprains, strains, allergies & headaches *NOT full body drainage.* This process helps with the fluid retention aka swelling associated with these conditions. It is especially necessary to drink a bit more water & be closer to the toliet as your body processes the release, some release a lot right away, others over the next day. Specific conditions like cancer can cause the Lymph system to malfunction due to damage often from medications or physical tissue damage. I will keep an eye out for Lymphedema, a critical lymph condition for which a Dr will need to evaluate.
